Shri Amarnath Yatra 2025 Kicks Off with Enhanced Security Measures

On Wednesday, Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, officially launched the first group of pilgrims for the Shri Amarnath Yatra, which commenced today. Prior to the flag-off, LG Sinha performed prayers at the Yatri Niwas base camp located in Jammu. As the pilgrims set off, the atmosphere was filled with chants of 'Har Har Mahadev' and 'Bam Bam Bhole'.

Devotees Express Confidence in Security

In response to the commencement of the Amarnath Yatra, BJP leader Sat Sharma remarked, 'Numerous devotees have gathered here for the Baba Amarnath Darshan. Just two months ago, the atmosphere was different, but today we witness devotees enthusiastically chanting slogans for Baba Bhole. The public trusts that they are in safe hands.'

A devotee named Shalu, who is part of the inaugural group, expressed her satisfaction with the arrangements, stating, 'We are thrilled... We have anticipated this for an entire year. The provisions, from food to lodging, are excellent. There is nothing to fear; the security is impeccable.'

Safety and Facilities for Pilgrims

Another pilgrim, Akanksha, shared, 'We aimed to join the first batch. We felt secure knowing that the security would be sufficient... The arrangements are commendable; food, accommodation, sanitation, and all facilities are top-notch.'

Suman Ghosh, also among the first pilgrims, added, 'We hope everyone can have a peaceful Darshan. There is nothing to worry about; the Indian Army and other security forces are present.'

Improved Infrastructure for the Yatra

The Amarnath Yatra is being conducted via the Baltal and Pahalgam routes. The Jammu-Srinagar Highway serves as a crucial pathway for the thousands of pilgrims heading to the shrine. Discussing the arrangements, LG Manoj Sinha noted, 'The J&K administration, the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, and the local residents have fulfilled their responsibilities well. Since 2022, facilities for devotees attending the Amarnath Yatra have seen significant enhancements.'

He further explained that the paths leading to the cave, which were previously six feet wide, have now been expanded to twelve feet. Previously dark routes now benefit from established grid connectivity. 'Telecom connectivity has been significantly improved along the route. High-quality cameras have been installed for live feeds of the Yatra. The event is monitored continuously from the Integrated Command and Control Centre in the Raj Bhawan and the Police Control Room... An RFID-based tracking system has also been implemented,' he added.
